FAQs

Why choose Solar Power?
Solar power boosts your electricity independence! Solar Electricity makes your home go off-the-Grid and more self-sufficient.
It offers a seamless integration into your home or business. You have no loss of power when dealing with the inconvenience load shedding.
Residential, commercial and industrial sectors that want to avoid high electricity bills.
It increases the value of their property for homeowners.
The main advantage of solar power is that it is a renewable, clean source of electricity. It is an investment in the environment.
What is the cost?

Battery back-up System –The cost will depend on your requirements and is considered in relation to the size of battery back-up power you will need to deliver uninterrupted power during power interruptions.
Solar Systems with PV Panels – The cost will depend on your requirements and is considered in relation the size and design of the Solar System you require in your house. With a Solar Power system your aim should be that it will pay for itself within a few years.
Finance – Finance is available. However, this cost should not be more than what you are currently paying for electricity monthly and thus will not affect your monthly budget to run your household.

How do you migrate from grid to solar?
Both a modular and scalable approach is needed. A good starting point is to have a few solar panels with a small inverter and battery backup system to overcome load shedding. From here you can upgrade your system with the end result of getting off the grid.
Can I start with a small system and add on to it as I go?
Yes. Our systems are designed to be upgradable. We carefully select products that are modular and scalable. Starting small then upgrading your energy power solution is no problem.
Will cloudy conditions affect my Solar Panels and Solar System?
Solar PV panels generate power from Solar Radiation, so sunlight is needed to generate power. Solar panels will still work even when the light is reflected or partially blocked by clouds. When cloudy conditions, there is less solar radiation so the Solar panels produce less electricity. Rain actually helps to keep your panels operating efficiently by washing away any dust or dirt. In conditions where there is less sunlight or no sunlight the system is designed to use battery and / or grid power to supply the shortfall of power supply from Solar. If your system is connected to the Grid, Grid power can be used to re-charge the batteries under these conditions.
Are there Tax incentives for Solar PV systems?
As per Income Tax Act 58 of 1962, companies are allowed accelerated Tax depreciation on Solar Systems.
Can I feed Power back into the Grid?
Yes, whether you have a Grid Tied and Bi-Directional system, they are able to send power back into the Grid if need be. It recommended that permission from your local municipality or Eskom it obtained prior to setting this up.
Return of investment?
If your average monthly electricity bill is high, and you’re living in an area with high energy rates then it’s worthwhile installing solar panels. It is not only amazing for your wallet but also good for the environment. The price of energy is not dropping. Solar panels provides a long-term subsidy benefits. Solar panels are long-lasting and require little up keep. You have increased savings and thus reducing monthly expenses, both for Residential and Commercial sectors.
Increase in property value?
Yes. Multiple studies have shown that homes with solar panel systems are valued and sold at prices above similar homes in their area. Because of reductions in electricity costs, Solar Systems increases the value of your property. This will attracts buyers who are looking to stay off the grid and keep their green foot print as low as possible.
Are Solar Panels hail resistant?
In most cases, solar panels are tested to withstand hail. Hail may be an impressive physical force, but solar panels are well-equipped to withstand impacts even from large hailstones and severe weather conditions
What is the life expectancy of Solar Panels?
To put your mind at ease studies have proven that solar panels can last anywhere between 25 to 30 years — or sometimes more. Solar PV Panels have a performance warranty of 25 years. In some cases and in ideal conditions panels can last as long as 50 years.
